Evoralis, a spin-out from the University of Cambridge, is on a mission to enable the textile industry to become truly sustainable and circular. We use an ultra-fast screening platform to develop enzymes for breaking down mixed and blended textile fibres into their constituent building blocks for the production of virgin-grade textile fibres.

In order to further accelerate the discovery and evolution of our enzymes, we are looking for a dedicated Bioinformatician to play a pivotal role in our ultrahigh-throughput workflows, from experimental design to analysis. You will be responsible for integrating modern computational methods with our revolutionary & cutting-edge wet-lab approaches.

Key responsibilities:

Use computational methods to analyse biological data for protein design, discovery and optimization
Experience in Protein Design & Protein Data mining
Manage large databases & develop data frameworks
Analyse, manage and organise large datasets generated from various protein engineering campaigns
Develop and integrate data science, automation, AI and machine-learning approaches in protein discovery and optimisation
Automate the capture, organisation and analysis of experimental data generated in the lab
Experience in using common data analysis packages and bioinformatics tools, such as sequence alignment tools
Experience with Linux environments and version control (git)
Good knowledge of R and/or Python
Work with Scientists from different fields as Protein Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry and Chemistry
Maintain good written records of computational work and framework

Desired skills, qualifications and experience:

We encourage individuals to apply who have just completed their PhD, looking to transition to industry and work in a dynamic fast paced environment
A Master's or Ph.D degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, or similar discipline, and a minimum of 4 years of related experience working with genomics data - Industry or academia
Record of scientific publications and/or contribution to the scientific community in the bioinformatics field

About the Company

Evoralis is an early-stage spin-out from the University of Cambridge with the mission to enable true and sustainable plastic recycling. It uses a unique ultrahigh-throughput screening platform to find and improve enzymes that can break down plastics into their constituent building-blocks to be re-used again within new products. At Evoralis, biocatalysts can be tested at unprecedented speed, making the discovery of plastic-degrading enzymes up to 1,000 times faster than any other current state-of-the-art approach.
