Position Overview:

Diligent is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure team, with a specific focus on bridging the gap between infrastructure and application development. The candidate will interface with Diligent's product software engineering teams to advise and enable teams, and continually improve and automate processes. This role will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the core infrastructure in AWS, with a keen eye on optimizing the environment for the development of cutting-edge applications. Core infrastructure includes security governance (ie control tower), shared networking administration, etc.

The ideal candidate will have a background in (web) application development with a strong interest in implementing infrastructure-as-code. This is a software engineering position: you will be expected to read and write “application” code (e.g. Python, TypeScript, shell-script, Ruby, etc.), not only to support application teams, but also to orchestrate infrastructure processes and operations.

Although experience implementing infrastructure-as-code is desired, it is not required since we think your experience as a (web) application developer will allow you to quickly learn how to “codify” infrastructure. However, we require the ability to build the infrastructure for a web application using components provided by cloud infrastructure platforms (e.g. AWS). Please note that since the focus of this position is on infrastructure, you will not be writing as much “application” code as a typical user-facing application developer. Instead, you will doing development in Terraform / CDK and writing “application” code as necessary to support infrastructure (instead of end-users).

Key Responsibilities:

Architect, design, and help implement methods to optimize Diligent's AWS environment and processes
Advise product software engineering teams on product and core infrastructure design
Develop and deploy infrastructure-as-code using best practices

Required Experience/Skills:

Background in (web) application development
Experience designing, building, and securing solutions in AWS
Experience monitoring, inspecting, and debugging services built in AWS
Understanding of the software development lifecycle.
Experience managing cloud resources using an infrastructure-as-code model, using Terraform and/or AWS CDK, preferably using TypeScript
Experience leveraging AI-powered tools to enhance Infrastructure-as-Code workflows—such as using AI to accelerate code generation, detect IaC vulnerabilities, optimize configurations, or automate monitoring and governance in AWS environments
Proficiency in using AI-assisted development and observability platforms (e.g. LLM-based code suggestion tools, AI-driven monitoring or anomaly detection systems) to elevate infrastructure reliability, code quality, and team productivity.
Experience using code deployment tools, such as GitHub, CodeBuild and CodePipeline
Excellent communication and relationship building skills: the Cloud Infrastructure team interfaces with many of Diligent's software development and site reliability teams
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
AWS Developer, SysOps Administrator, or a Solutions Architect certification is a plus
