Overview of role:

The Intermediate Analyst is responsible for being a technical resource within the Enterprise Monitoring team, helping to support the overall Observability roadmap of WestJet’s technical landscape.

Being part of an operational team, the Intermediate Analyst will administer, implement key improvements, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents within the enterprise monitoring technology stack supporting both IT and Digital requests. Playing a key role in change, incident, and release management for the monitoring stack, the Intermediate Analyst will maintain the stability and functionality of the systems supported. This role will also engage stakeholders in support of ongoing service improvement plans for each application providing design recommendations for a wholistic observability solution.

The Intermediate Analyst will be involved in platform service improvement plans and will participate in estimations, planning, and delivery of ongoing platform improvements. Can be asked to provide input on developing requirements and propose solutions that meet business needs.

Key deliverables / responsibilities include:

Administration of relevant technology within their operational team including Solarwinds Orion, Splunk, and other Observability platforms.
Support existing monitoring of over 600 applications and infrastructure as well as assist in onboarding new applications using identified patterns and standards.
Delivery of service improvement work items identified as priority within timelines.
Leads in change, incident, problem Management tasks within product team.
Understanding of overall architecture of technology supported and how to identify and troubleshoot challenges within.
Ticket management, documentation of steps taken to fix or improve work items.
Knowledge management input, development of support runbooks and transition to operation process.
Improvement of security posture within technology stack supported.
Participation in relevant audits if required.
Requirement to be part of on call rotation.

Experience and qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Technical Field.
5+ years in administration of monitoring platforms for an enterprise technology department.
Strong working knowledge as an administrator of at least two modern Observability platforms at an enterprise level.
Hands on experience with designing monitoring solutions for infrastructure and applications.
Understanding and experience with automation techniques and tools.
Excellent time management skills, ability to manage multiple items. Incident and problem management skills.
Willingness to learn related technology and business process.
Ability to determine root cause from outcomes.
