Senior Product Designer - Studia
Hybrid London or Remote | 3-month contract with a view to permanent role

Studia is reimagining online education as the "AI powered Twitch for Education" - a revolutionary platform where learning becomes social, interactive, and engaging. Following a successful proof of concept launch in February 2025, we're building a platform that transforms how students and educators connect, collaborate, and create knowledge together in real-time.

The Role
As our Senior Product Designer, you'll take ownership of the entire design process - from strategy to execution - working directly with our development team to create an exceptional product that millions of learners will love.
This isn't about perfection; it's about pragmatic design that ships. You'll inherit a solid foundation including established brand guidelines, a design system in progress, and completed screens for core tutor flows (onboarding, profile management, calendar, and livestream studio). Your job is to build on this foundation, complete the remaining student and parent experiences, and scale the design system as we grow.
What You'll Own
Design Leadership & Strategy
Define and evolve our design vision, principles, and processes
Champion user-centred design while balancing startup speed and constraints
Extend and scale the existing design system using modern component libraries
End-to-End Design Delivery
Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
Design responsive experiences across web and mobile
Establish and maintain a scalable design system in Figma
Ensure pixel-perfect handoff and implementation with developers
Research & Validation
Conduct guerrilla usability testing and rapid user research
Synthesise insights from user feedback, analytics, and behavioural data
Iterate quickly based on learnings - fail fast, learn faster
Cross-functional Partnership
Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders
Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and product strategy sessions
Be the voice of the user in every conversation
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
5+ years of product design experience, with at least 2 years in fast-paced startups or scale-ups
Expert-level Figma skills - you dream in components and auto-layout
Deep experience with modern component libraries (Shadcn/ui, Tamagui, Gluestack etc.)
Proven track record of shipping consumer-facing digital products
Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design process and visual excellence
Technical Fluency
Understanding of React component architecture and design system implementation
Comfortable with design tokens, responsive design, and accessibility standards
Experience designing for real-time interactions, streaming, or social platforms is a plus
Familiarity with analytics tools and data-driven design decisions
Startup DNA
Thrives in ambiguity and can create structure from chaos
Knows when to follow the double diamond process and when to ship an MVP
Comfortable wearing multiple hats - from user researcher to visual designer
Can defend design decisions with data and business rationale
Gets excited about 0-to-1 product development
Working Style
Self-starter who can work autonomously while knowing when to collaborate
Excellent communication skills - can present to engineers and executives alike
Comfortable with rapid iteration and changing requirements
Pragmatic perfectionist - knows when good enough is perfect
What Success Looks Like
Week 1: Complete handover, audit existing designs, and identify immediate priorities
Week 2: Ship improvements to in-progress screens and establish your workflow with engineering
Week 4: Deliver a major feature from concept to launch, proving your impact
