Java Cloud Architect
Location: Brussels, Belgium
Work Model: Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week in Brussels, 3 days remote
Duration: 12 month contract (B2B) + Extensions
Rate: €400/day

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Java Cloud Architect to design and lead modern, cloud-native solutions within a large enterprise environment. The role requires strong architectural leadership, hands-on technical expertise, and the ability to guide development teams through complex transformations, including microservices and cloud-native architectures.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or a related field.
8+ years of experience in IT architecture, microservices, and cloud-native solution design.
Expert knowledge of Java (8–21), Jakarta EE, and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Security).
5+ years of experience with Angular (2+), including modern UI development and client-side scripting.
Strong experience with containerization and cloud platforms (CaaS), Docker, Consul (Service Discovery), and NGINX.
Proven expertise in Kafka, Oracle SOA Suite, and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) technologies.
Strong database and persistence experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redis, Liquibase, and Hibernate/JPA.
Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, ELK Stack, and Grafana.
Solid testing experience using JUnit, SoapUI, and related frameworks.
Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Bitbucket, and GitLab.
Key Responsibilities
As a Java Cloud Architect, you will:
Design scalable high-level architectures (HLA) and technical blueprints aligned with enterprise frameworks such as TOGAF.
Lead the transformation from monolithic systems to microservices, event-driven, and cloud-native architectures.
Act as a Senior Full Stack Technical Lead, supporting teams through design decisions, code reviews, and best practices.
Design and oversee complex system integrations using REST/SOAP web services, Kafka, and message-oriented middleware.
Define and maintain CI/CD pipelines, containerization strategies (Docker), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards.
Enforce architectural integrity and coding standards using tools such as ArchUnit at pull-request level.
Conduct security assessments and implement identity and access solutions using OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and Vault.
Oversee the full software lifecycle: feasibility analysis, data modeling, development, deployment, monitoring, and performance tuning.
