Senior Cyber Security Engineer (Assurance) - Rail/OT - £450-£500 per day - Outside IR35 - Hybrid working (1 day per week) from a site near Ashby-de-la-Zouch or Chippenham - 12 months initial contract.

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cyber Security Engineer (Assurance) to join their Rail Infrastructure Communication and Information Systems (CIS) business. As a market leader in rail and transport technologies, they design and deliver secure, safety-critical systems that support the efficient movement of people and goods.

This role is well suited to candidates with experience in the rail industry or other highly regulated, safety-critical OT environments.

The Role -
You will act as a senior cyber security assurance specialist, providing expertise across both products and end-to-end solutions within an Operational Technology (OT) context. The role spans the full delivery life cycle, from early bid support and design through to commissioning and operational support.
Working closely with engineering, product and project teams, you will ensure that cyber security is Embedded by design and supported by robust assurance evidence aligned to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities -
Define, manage and maintain cyber security requirements across projects
Engage with customer security teams to understand security strategies, assurance needs and risk appetite
Develop Cyber Security Management Plans and track delivery against agreed objectives
Design secure architectures using zoning and conduits, identifying appropriate security controls
Lead threat and risk assessments and define mitigation strategies
Support compliance with standards and regulations including IEC 62443, TS 50701, NIS/NIS2 and EU CRA
Assess third-party components and review security artefacts
Support verification and validation activities, including testing and penetration testing
Represent cyber security at project reviews and stage-gate milestones
Mentor engineers and support incident and vulnerability response activities
Skills, Experience & Qualifications -
Strong experience delivering cyber security in Operational Technology environments
Proven practical application of the IEC 62443 standard series
Working knowledge of CENELEC standards
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable -
Experience in rail or similar regulated sectors CISSP, CSSLP or CCP certification
Experience mentoring engineers.
