Our client is seeking a proactive and collaborative Safety & Risk Management professional to revitalize and lead an organization wide safety program. The ideal candidate brings strong communication, the confidence to guide cross-department partners, and the initiative to independently drive projects forward. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in building structure where it’s needed, leading with influence, and elevating safety culture across diverse operational environments.
This role is onsite The Dalles, Oregon.
Due to the nature of this role and immediate business needs, we are only considering candidates currently residing in the The Dalles, Oregon and surrounding area.
Risk Management & Safety Officer Responsibilities
Oversee OR-OSHA compliance, develop safety policies, and deliver safety training across all organization departments.
Reestablish and lead the organization wide safety program, including committees, risk assessments, and preventative measures.
Investigate incidents, coordinate insurance claims, and partner with Police, Public Works, and Facilities to mitigate risks.
Build and administer safety, cybersecurity, and emergency management training programs.
Research, apply for, and support management of safety-related grants.
Risk Management & Safety Officer Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or 3+ years of related field or equivalent experience; safety certifications preferred.
Demonstrated safety/OSHA regulations experience in a lead or program-driving capacity.
Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills across varied stakeholder groups.
Ability to independently manage projects and guide others without formal supervisory authority.
Experience with risk assessment/management, emergency management, or insurance claim coordination is beneficial.
