Job Title: Java Backend Developer

Location: Toronto, Canada

Must have exp working with Financial client in past.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Java Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services. The ideal candidate has strong experience in Java and Spring Boot, works effectively in a microservices architecture, and is comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams in a Linux-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Build and maintain microservices-based architectures
Develop and optimize data access using SingleStore (MemSQL)
Design and document RESTful APIs using Swagger / OpenAPI
Implement secure authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0 and JWT
Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices
Create and execute unit tests using JUnit5 and Mockito
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend and performance issues
Work in a Linux-based development and deployment environment
Collaborate closely with frontend developers, DevOps, QA, and product teams
Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot
Experience with Microservices architecture
Proficiency in SingleStore (MemSQL) or similar distributed databases
Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI for API documentation
Solid understanding of OAuth 2.0, JWT, and application security
Experience with JUnit and Mockito for unit testing
Comfortable working in a Linux environment
Good understanding of RESTful API design principles
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
