Role – Development Manager
Location – UK (Hybrid / Flexible)
Mint Selection are working with a leading UK renewable energy developer who are seeking an experienced Development Manager to join them on a contract basis, supporting the delivery of multiple projects through planning and early-stage development.
This role will take ownership of planning, environmental, engineering, and grid coordination across a portfolio of projects, ensuring each project is developed to a technically robust, consentable, and lender-ready standard suitable for progression into construction.
Scope of Work
Lead and manage all planning, environmental, and permitting activities required to secure robust, lender-acceptable planning consents across multiple projects.
Coordinate statutory and non-statutory consultations, manage planning submissions and supporting documentation, and negotiate planning conditions as required.
Ensure planning and environmental outputs are fully aligned with engineering design, grid requirements, and overall delivery strategy.
Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering inputs to ensure designs are technically robust, constructable, and compliant with planning, environmental, and grid requirements.
Act as the focal point for integrating engineering outputs into a coherent project definition that supports procurement, EPC contracting, and lender due diligence.
Manage project-specific grid connection applications, maintaining interfaces with NESO, DNOs, and Transmission Owners.
Ensure compliance with connection agreements, system study requirements, and Grid Code obligations, tracking grid-related risks, milestones, and dependencies across the programme.
Support procurement, tendering, and contract management for development-stage consultants and subcontractors, including technical scopes, specifications, and tender documentation.
Lead the appointment, coordination, and performance management of external advisors across engineering, environmental, planning, and land disciplines.
Maintain responsibility for the organisation, accuracy, and completeness of project documentation and data rooms, ensuring readiness for investor and lender review.
Act as a key interface for technical and commercial information requests from investors, lenders, and advisors during due diligence.
Support lender and investor due diligence processes, coordinating responses to technical, commercial, and regulatory queries.
Support project progression through to Financial Close, ensuring development workstreams are aligned with financing requirements.
Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate development-stage risks across the project portfolio, escalating key issues where required.
Experience to be Considered
Proven experience in a Development Manager, Senior Development Manager, or similar contract role within renewable energy or infrastructure development.
Strong track record of delivering planning consent for complex UK infrastructure or energy projects.
Solid understanding of planning, environmental assessment, and statutory consultation processes.
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering inputs and aligning technical design with planning and grid requirements.
Working knowledge of UK grid connection processes, including engagement with DNOs, NESO, and Transmission Owners.
Experience managing external advisors and consultants across planning, engineering, environmental, and land disciplines.
Familiarity with development-stage procurement, tendering, and contract management.
Experience supporting investor and lender due diligence through to Financial Close.
Strong organisational, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
This will be a 12-month renewable contract, outside IR35.
