About the Role
StratITech is seeking a Contract Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity Engineer on behalf of a confidential client in the maritime industry. This remote role—requiring up to 50% travel—will lead the execution and support of Maritime Cybersecurity OT and IT initiatives for vessels and terminals. The OT Cybersecurity Engineer will act as a subject matter expert on maritime cyber risks, collaborating with business leaders to ensure secure and efficient operations.

What You’ll Do
Oversee cybersecurity initiatives for OT systems within shipboard and shoreside environments, ensuring compliance with maritime cybersecurity guidelines, regulations, and internal standards.
Lead cybersecurity remediation and enhancement projects to mitigate cyber risks affecting vessel and terminal operations.
Define, track, and execute remediation plans for OT vulnerabilities and defects.
Recommend infrastructure improvements to Operations and Information Security teams.
Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, InfoSec, and business units to strengthen system controls.
Research and evaluate innovative technologies to advance maritime cybersecurity maturity.
Develop secure maritime solutions tailored to the client’s operational context.
Define system and functional requirements and maintain documentation, including specifications and architectural designs.
Generate performance metrics highlighting business impact and risk reduction.
Coordinate engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software) to ensure secure operational implementations.
Configure, maintain, and document secure OT and IT systems in compliance with change management policies.

Knowledge of NIST CSF frameworks
Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years in engineering roles supporting maritime products or solutions, or a Mechanical Engineering degree with 2+ years of relevant experience (preferred).
Technical Skills: 3–5 years of backend development experience with Java.
Certifications: OT/ICS/SCADA cybersecurity certifications highly desired (e.g., CMCP, ISA Certified Automation Professional, or Certified Control Systems Technician).
Travel: Must be willing to travel up to 50% across Western U.S. regions, including vessels, terminals, and third-party sites.
Compensation & Engagement
Salary Range: $175,000–$180,000 (based on experience and scope).
Type: Contract (W-2).
Location: Remote – U.S. based, with preference for candidates near Phoenix, San Francisco, Honolulu, or Chicago.
