Job Title: Freelance Finance Officer

Rate: Competitive in line with skills / experience

Type: Contract

Location: Hybrid (Bruges)

My client a global organization currently seek several Finance Offices to join on an initial 2 year contract in this role you will support operational finance activities with a strong focus on budget control, financial accuracy, and stakeholder collaboration.

This role sits close to the business and FP&A, providing critical oversight of budgets, variances, and financial data integrity across asset or compound-aligned cost areas.

Key Responsibilities

Own and manage operational finance activities
Ensure budget accuracy, control, and visibility
Perform variance analysis and challenge assumptions behind numbers
Support budget reviews and negotiations with SMEs at month-end
Maintain financial data integrity across systems
Ensure PO creation and control
Manage and monitor SOCs
Work closely with FP&A as a key stakeholder
Use Power BI dashboards for financial insights (no heavy dashboard development required)
Conduct monthly internal stakeholder catch-ups
Apply an audit-style mindset to review budgeting practices and financial controls

Required Experience & Skills

Proven experience in financial controlling, FP&A, or auditing roles
Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Ability to question numbers, identify risks, and think critically
Comfortable working close to the business and challenging stakeholders constructively
Strong systems and data accuracy mindset
Experience in asset- or cost-centre–aligned finance is an advantage
Experience with Oracle/Power BI and Power Query
