Summary

Under the general supervision of the Controls Foreman, the Energy/Security Technician installs, sets up, adjusts and repairs electronic energy management and security systems. Also requires the incumbent to design and build components of systems and complete electrical installation required for system power.

Description

Classified position is announced to all qualified applicants. 8 hours per day/257 days per year/Lane 12 $26.30 per hour (Support Salary Table 2025-2026) [Promotions result in a min. 5% increase] This position may be underfilled as an apprentice. GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the general supervision of the Controls Foreman, the Energy/Security Technician installs, sets up, adjusts and repairs electronic energy management and security systems. Also requires the incumbent to design and build components of systems and complete electrical installation required for system power. Minimum Requirements: * Completion of journeyman apprentice program or equivalent training and experience. * Four (4) years of experience related to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * Driver's license * Journeyman certificate desirable. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Knowledge of electrical construction. * Thorough knowledge of energy and access control systems. * Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, fire alarm systems, electric and pneumatic controls. * Basic computer skills. * Ability to use highly technical computer applications. * Ability to use or repair small, medium and heavy equipment.
