Network Specialist

Location: Calgary, AB (100% Onsite)

Type: Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Network Specialist to provide subject matter expertise in support of enterprise Network Operations. This role focuses on proactive network improvements, advanced troubleshooting, and operational excellence across a large-scale corporate network environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide networking SME-level support to the Network Operations team
Proactively enhance network performance through configuration changes, upgrades, and modernization initiatives
Configure, maintain, and support:
Load Balancers (F5)
Routers & Switches (Cisco, Juniper)
Cisco WiFi and Cloud Networking
Network management tools (Cisco ISE, Catalyst Center, F5 BIG-IQ, NetBox)
Lead troubleshooting and service restoration for escalated network incidents
Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and managed service providers
Support compliance with security, PCI, and SOX network standards
Ensure network readiness for disaster recovery and participate in DR activities
Define and maintain network standards, policies, and operational processes
Monitor network performance using Grafana, Catalyst Center, BIG-IQ, Viavi
Manage incidents and requests via ServiceNow (ITIL)

Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)

10+ years of hands-on networking experience
Post-secondary education in Networking, Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience
SME-level expertise in network troubleshooting and monitoring tools
Strong knowledge of enterprise or service provider networks including:
WAN / LAN / MPLS
Routing & Switching
Wi-Fi, QoS, TCP/IP
Cloud Networking
Experience with network load balancing (F5 preferred)
Deep understanding of telecommunications hardware, protocols, and network systems

Preferred Qualifications

Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCSA, or higher)
Juniper certifications (JNSIA or higher)
Experience with ITIL Foundations
