Annual Bonus Director of Engineering & Solutions
Our client, a rapidly expanding organization in the Greater Boston area, is seeking a Director of Engineering & Solutions. This senior leadership role will be responsible for building, leading, and scaling a high-impact technical organization that delivers engineered solutions, field services, customer training, and custom assemblies. The Director will oversee a multidisciplinary team focused on solution development, application engineering, and technical execution for complex customer systems.
This role will manage Field Engineers, Application Engineers, and Technical Specialists, along with production scheduling functions, to ensure technical excellence, operational efficiency, and alignment with Sales and Operations. The Director will position the Engineering & Solutions department as a strategic, revenue-generating function that drives customer value, enhances margins, and supports long-term account growth through differentiated expertise and high-quality solution delivery.
The Director will also ensure consistent application of engineering and quality standards, safety requirements, and organizational best practices. They will drive standardization where it improves efficiency while enabling customization that meets customer needs. This is a highly visible role requiring regular collaboration with Sales leadership on solution strategies, opportunity qualification, and customer presentations. The ideal candidate is a degreed engineer with strong communication skills who enjoys building teams and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Identify opportunities to expand custom solutions, services, and training offerings
Support strategic account planning and solution development efforts with Sales and Operations
Ensure on-time delivery, quality, and margin performance for engineered solutions
Establish capacity planning, resource allocation, and utilization frameworks
Drive continuous improvement across engineering, production, and delivery workflows
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related discipline)
7-10+ years of progressive engineering leadership within a technical or industrial B2B environment
Experience leading customer-facing engineering teams
Strong understanding of engineered systems, custom assemblies, and technical services
Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Sales and Operations
Experience working within a solutions-based business model (eg, engineered products, custom manufacturing, or technical services) Seniority level
