Job Description – Robotics & Automation Project Engineer (Chargé d’Affaires Robotique & Automatisme)

Location : Dunkerque, France (Onsite 100%)

Position Overview

As a Robotics & Automation Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading technical studies, defining integration solutions, and supporting the deployment of robotic cells across industrial environments. You will contribute throughout the entire project lifecycle—from feasibility studies to commissioning—while ensuring technical excellence and optimal operational performance.

1. Pre‑Project Engineering for Robotic Integration

Main activities:

Analyze customer requirements and define functional needs.
Identify and select appropriate technological solutions.
Perform robot sizing, feasibility assessments, and cell layout definition.
Conduct robotic cell modeling and simulation (trajectory validation, collision checks, cycle‑time estimation, preliminary risk analysis).
Prepare technical and financial quotations.

Project examples:

Robotic cell for handling rigid and flexible shells.
Automated manipulation of tin anodes (2‑meter‑long, 50 kg parts).
Integration of an automatic adhesive‑tape application function on a steel‑coil handling robot.

2. Technical Expertise on Robotic Cell Integration Projects

Main activities:

Draft detailed technical specifications and define project requirements.
Analyze technical proposals and validate technology choices.
Contribute to detailed functional analyses and risk assessments.
Conduct workshop tests and trials.
Support commissioning activities on customer sites.
Assist production teams during ramp‑up and operational takeover of new robotic cells.

Project examples:

Automated handling of steel plates.
Robotic handling of shells.
Fully automated steel‑coil packaging solution (including technical exchanges in English with the integrator).

3. Operational Technical Support (primarily FANUC robots)

Main activities:

Optimize robot trajectories and improve cycle times on existing robotic cells.
Program robots and implement functional adjustments.
Perform backup and restoration procedures on robots.
Act as the technical interface between robot suppliers, production teams, maintenance, and automation engineers.
Troubleshoot operational issues and implement continuous improvement actions.
