Position Title: Senior Azure DevSecOps Engineer
Location: Falls Church, VA (Hybrid)
Clearance Requirements: Active Secret Clearance (required)
Position Status: Contract to Hire
Pay Rate: $80–$90/hour
Position Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure DevSecOps Engineer to support the design, implementation, and security of mission-critical systems within Azure Government (IL5) environments. This role is ideal for a senior-level engineer who thrives in secure cloud environments, enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, and is passionate about automation, security, and continuous improvement.
In this role, you will serve as a technical leader—driving cloud architecture decisions, building secure CI/CD pipelines, implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and mentoring team members. You will work closely with cross-functional Agile teams to ensure cloud platforms meet stringent federal security and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Architecture & Implementation
Architect, deploy, and operate Azure Government (IL5) cloud environments aligned with security and compliance standards
Design secure Azure networking solutions including VNets, peering, NSGs, Azure Firewall, VPN/ExpressRoute, private endpoints, and landing zones
Identity & Access Management
Implement and manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) for secure access
Configure RBAC, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), Conditional Access, SSO, and SCIM-based identity provisioning
Infrastructure Automation
Develop scalable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep and/or Terraform
Automate deployments and operational tasks using PowerShell, Bash, and Python
CI/CD & DevSecOps
Build and maintain secure GitLab CI/CD pipelines
Integrate security scanning, compliance checks, and automation into deployment workflows
Platform & Container Management
Securely deploy and manage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), virtual machines, and container-based workloads
Apply best practices for workload isolation and private access
Monitoring, Logging & Security
Implement monitoring and logging using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Microsoft Sentinel, and Defender for Cloud
Support continuous monitoring and Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes
Leadership & Collaboration
Provide technical leadership within Agile/Scrum teams
Participate in architecture and security design reviews
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical documentation
Required Skills / Education:
Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of professional experience
Hands-on experience with Azure Government Cloud (IL5)
Strong expertise in Azure networking and security architecture
Deep experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and IAM best practices
Proficiency with Bicep, Terraform, and scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred)
Strong knowledge of AKS, container platforms, and Azure compute services
Experience with cloud security monitoring and incident response tools
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within Agile teams
Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert)
Experience with FedRAMP, DoD IL5, and ATO processes
Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture principles
Experience with Platform One (nice to have)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
