Job Specifications

Position Overview

The Network Security Engineer will actively participate in planning and coordinating the design, installation, configuration, and connectivity of computer and network systems to ensure stable, scalable, redundant, and secure 24x7 network operations.

Required Certifications (Active)

Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA) or Palo Alto Networks Network Security Professional
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Enterprise or CCNA Security

Preferred Qualifications

Ten (10) years of CONUS technical experience in IT networking and network security
Associate’s degree in an Information Technology (IT) related field (or higher)
Certifications (active or expired within the last three years):
Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewall Engineer, or Palo Alto Network Security Analyst
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise or CCNP Security

Scope of Work

The Network Security Engineer will be responsible for:

Proactively identifying organizational requirements and designing engineered solutions that best serve business and security needs.
Performing project-based engineering, design, installation, and troubleshooting of secure data networks.
Providing assessment, design, and implementation services for secure networking environments.
Developing comprehensive graphical and written design documentation and managing implementations from design through final acceptance.
Supporting internal teams with capacity planning, maintenance, monitoring, and review of secure data communications networks.
Leading or supporting migrations from legacy network security platforms to next-generation technologies, implementing defense-in-depth strategies.
Assisting network engineers with troubleshooting critical issues and threat remediation involving network security products.
Implementing configuration standards, change management procedures, and standard operating procedures for secure network solutions.
Leading and coordinating team activities to resolve end-user issues in a timely and accurate manner.
Generating weekly status reports detailing project progress, milestones, and completed tasks.
Hosting weekly project status meetings or calls, as required.

Palo Alto Networks (5+ years):

Next-generation firewall services
Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDPS)
Content filtering
VPN configuration and management
Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
TLS/SSL inspection

Cisco Networking (4+ years):

Complex switching, routing, and wireless environments

A10 Networks (3+ years):

Reverse proxy and load balancing solutions

Network Access Control (2+ years):

Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
FreeRADIUS
Access Control Lists (ACLs)

General Technical Experience

Microsoft-based multi-factor authentication solutions
Cloud-based virtual networking and security services
802.1x authentication for wired and wireless networks
Routing protocols: EIGRP, OSPF, BGP
Enterprise data center micro-segmentation
Certificate management and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
Vulnerability management using Nessus, Nmap, Windows, Unix, and Linux
Packet and protocol analysis using OpNet, Riverbed, Wireshark, and network taps
Centralized management platforms such as Panorama and SolarWinds
