We are seeking a Senior AI Specialist to design, develop, and deploy artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions that enhance operational efficiency, improve decision-making, and enable innovative data access within public safety systems.
This role will focus on building an AI-powered natural language search and analytics solution that allows authorized users to query data using everyday language rather than complex SQL or traditional search interfaces. The solution will be fully hosted in AWS, leveraging modern AI/ML, vector databases, and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques.
Key Responsibilities
AI & Machine Learning Development
Design, build, train, validate, and deploy AI/ML models to support advanced search and analytics use cases.
Develop natural language query capabilities enabling users to interact with datasets using conversational language.
Implement RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) solutions using AWS Bedrock and industry-standard models (e.g., Claude, AWS Titan/Nova).
Data Engineering & Architecture
Extract data from on-premise Oracle and SQL Server databases into AWS.
Transform, normalize, and mask sensitive data (CJIS, PII, etc.) in compliance with security and privacy requirements.
Store and manage data in optimized formats suitable for AI/ML workloads, including vector databases (e.g., Pinecone).
Design scalable, secure, cloud-native architectures hosted entirely in AWS.
Collaboration & Innovation
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify AI use cases and gather requirements.
Translate business and operational needs into effective AI-driven solutions.
Stay current with AI research, tools, and industry trends to drive continuous innovation.
Required Qualifications
Experience
Senior-level experience in AI/ML solution development.
2–3+ years of experience working with public safety applications such as CAD, RMS, or FRMS.
Hands-on experience deploying AI/ML solutions in AWS cloud environments.
Strong experience working with structured and unstructured datasets.
Technical Skills
Programming: Python, R
Machine Learning Frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-learn
Data Processing & Analytics: Apache Spark, Databricks, Jupyter Notebooks
Cloud Platforms:
AWS (SageMaker, EC2, S3, Bedrock)
Azure ML / Databricks (experience a plus)
Databases:
Oracle, SQL Server
SQL & NoSQL
Vector databases (e.g., Pinecone)
Data Visualization: Tableau, Power BI
Preferred Skills
Experience implementing natural language search and conversational AI solutions.
Experience with predictive analytics and advanced data modeling.
Familiarity with LLMs and foundation models.
Professional Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
Self-driven and comfortable working on complex, high-impact initiatives.
