Job Title: Artificial Intelligence Specialist
Role Summary: Senior AI/ML engineer responsible for designing, developing, and deploying AI-powered natural language search and analytics solutions within public safety systems. Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of AI models, data ingestion, transformation, and cloud-native architecture on AWS, enabling users to query complex datasets with conversational language and Retrieval Augmented Generation.
Expectations:
- Deliver fully integrated AI solutions on AWS within a 6+ month contract.
- Translate business needs into robust, secure, and scalable AI/ML architectures.
- Maintain high standards of data privacy (CJIS, PII) and comply with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, train, validate, and deploy AI/ML models for advanced search and analytics.
2. Build conversational query interfaces and implement RAG using AWS Bedrock and foundation models (Claude, Titan/Nova).
3. Extract, transform, mask, and load data from Oracle/SQL Server into AWS, ensuring compliance.
4. Store and manage data in vector databases (e.g., Pinecone) and other optimized AI/ML formats.
5. Architect scalable, secure, cloud-native AWS infrastructure (SageMaker, EC2, S3, Bedrock).
6. Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to identify use cases and capture requirements.
7. Conduct ongoing research and advocate innovations in AI/ML for public safety.
Required Skills:
- Python, R programming; TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit‑learn.
- Apache Spark, Databricks, Jupyter Notebooks.
- AWS services: SageMaker, EC2, S3, Bedrock; familiarity with Azure ML/Databricks is a plus.
- Oracle, SQL Server, SQL/NoSQL, vector databases (Pinecone).
- Data visualization: Tableau, Power BI.
- Experience with natural language search, conversational AI, RAG, LLMs.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Self‑driven, capable of handling complex, high‑impact projects.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty or equivalent is highly desirable.
