Senior Scientist – 12‑Month Contract (Stevenage)

Are you passionate about advancing large‑molecule therapeutics and shaping the next generation of biopharmaceuticals? A leading R&D organisation is looking for a Senior Scientist to join their Molecular Design & Engineering group on a 12‑month contract.

This team plays a key role in transforming early discovery leads into high‑quality therapeutic candidates. If you thrive in a lab‑centric environment and enjoy deep scientific problem‑solving, this could be a great fit.

About the Role

You’ll join the developability team, working hands‑on to profile and characterise biopharmaceuticals using a range of biophysical techniques. Your work will directly support early project teams and influence candidate selection.

Key responsibilities include:

Planning and executing experiments to characterise proteins using biophysical methods (SEC, DLS, DSF, etc.)
Interpreting and communicating data to multidisciplinary teams
Maintaining high‑quality electronic lab notebooks
Contributing to the optimisation of therapeutic antibody candidates

What We’re Looking For

PhD (or equivalent industry experience) in biophysics or a related discipline
Hands‑on experience with protein characterisation using techniques such as:
Dynamic Light Scattering
Analytical Size Exclusion / chromatography methods
Differential Scanning Fluorimetry
Mass spectrometry
Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills

Bonus experience:

Automated liquid handling systems
Antibody drug discovery workflows
Surface plasmon resonance for protein‑protein interaction studies
