Role : Cognos BI lead

Location: Mississauga, ON/ Vancouver, BC(Hybrid)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Cognos Analytics Developer to oversee the design, development, and implementation of Cognos solutions, driving business intelligence initiatives that enhance data-driven decision-making across the organization.

You will play a key role in enhancing our BI capabilities and ensuring optimal performance of our analytics tools. The role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of financial modeling, and hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms.

Responsibilities:

· Lead the architecture and development of Cognos BI solutions that provide actionable insights to stakeholders throughout the organization.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications and design documents.

· Mentor and guide junior developers on best practices, tools, and methodologies for BI development.

· Implement data models, reports, and dashboards that support strategic objectives, ensuring high performance and scalability.

· Conduct thorough testing and validation of Cognos solutions to ensure data accuracy and reliability.

· Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve data analytics capabilities

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Required:

· 5+ years of experience in Cognos development and business intelligence solutions.

· Expertise in Cognos Analytics, including Framework Manager, Report Studio, and Dashboard development.

· Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and experience with SQL and relational databases.

· Proven ability to lead projects and collaborate with diverse teams in a fast-paced environment.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred:

· Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica or DataStage.

· Familiarity with cloud technologies and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).

· Previous experience in a leadership role within a BI or analytics team.

· Relevant certifications in Cognos or data analytics.

· Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies

· Deep expertise in Cognos Analytics and reporting tools.

· Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database management systems.

· Experience with data visualization tools and methodologies.

· Understanding of data warehousing concepts and practices

Support Team Leadership:

Lead and manage a support team handling bug fixes, enhancements, and client queries.

Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to team members.

Should have a clear understanding and working experience in SDLC, CI/CD, Agile & Sprint programs.

Ability to Co-ordination with Application and Platform teams, Hyper-Care support, Performance optimization, Unit Test & Integration test support

Mentor and support other colleagues and L2 team for L3 Technical delivery

Managing services SLAs like availability (proactive monitoring) and incident resolutions as per LAs

Strong client-facing role at the customer location or remotely.
