Job Title: Java Developer

Location: Calgary, AB (3 days onsite)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join our Wealth Management Technology team. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven professional with strong problem-solving skills, hands-on Java development experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional Agile teams.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Minimum 4+ years of hands-on Java development experience
Strong understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms
Proficiency in Core and Advanced Java concepts
Experience with Spring Framework, JDBC, and JPA/Hibernate
Strong knowledge of API development and API design principles
Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL
Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies
Proficiency in UNIX/Linux and Windows distributed computing environments
Hands-on experience with Java IDEs (preferably IntelliJ IDEA)
Ability to collaborate with System Architects to review and approve program and subsystem designs
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet changing deadlines
Strong team player with experience working in cross-functional teams including Product Analysts, QA, UAT, Development, and PMO
Prior experience in Wealth Management, Banking, Securities, or Financial Services
Experience working in a desktop Linux environment
Familiarity with issue tracking systems (e.g., JIRA)
Experience using Confluence or other wiki/documentation tools
Exposure to Oracle databases, Message Queues, or Kafka
