Location: Hybrid / Barrow-in-Furness

Department: IT

Reporting to: IT Infrastructure Manager

My client are looking for a Cloud Engineer who is ready to take the next step in their career. You will be maintaining all elements of the clients IT cloud infrastructure, ensuring maximum availability and reliability of the IT service. Deliver a secure, resilient platform for the IT systems, monitoring and continually improving the infrastructure where possible

Key Responsibilities

To effectively identify, assess, monitor and mitigate risks in line with the Societies risk management framework and regulatory expectations.
To undertake all activities in line with Society policies, processes and procedures, ensuring conduct rules and regulatory guidelines are met.
To seize opportunities to achieve and exceed your agreed goals and objectives, playing your part in the Society’s Annual Objectives.
Create and Manage Cloud Infrastructure that supports Furness Building Society IT Strategy
Provide IT Support on Cloud and local Infrastructure and networks issues
Provide Network Control, Operations and Support

Key Experience

Must have hands-on migration experience, including implementation of Microsoft Defender (not support-only involvement).
Experience of Azure services such as Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Active Directory (Entra), and Azure Storage, Azure Firewall, Azure Networking and Azure Backup
Experience of Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Defender, Purview and Intune
Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Azure CLI to automate tasks, manage resources, and streamline deployments
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates or Terraform
Knowledge of Azure networking components (Virtual Networks, Subnets, Network Security Groups)
Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
Proficiency in Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics for monitoring and diagnostics
Understand Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, and other database services
Experience of Microsoft automation tooling such as Kubernetes, MS Power Automate/Power Platform

There is some flexibility on the hybrid working but candidates must be open to spending at least 1 day per week in the Barrow-in-Furness head office.
