Job Title: Data Analytical Specialist/Scientist - Senior

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid) 277 Front Street West

Duration: 6+ Months (Possible Extension)

Client: Public Sector

Pay Rate: CAD 60-65/Hour

Mandate public sector experience prior required

Role Overview

The Data Platform Specialist will support enterprise-scale cloud and data initiatives by leading data mapping, documentation, and validation across Azure-based data platforms. The role ensures accurate data movement, high data quality, and strong alignment between business definitions, engineering implementations, and enterprise data standards to enable reliable analytics and reporting.

Must-Have Skills

8+ years experience in Data Mapping & Documentation
8+ years experience in Data Quality, Validation, and Reconciliation
8+ years hands-on experience with Azure data platforms
Strong proficiency in SQL for data analysis and validation
Proven experience documenting field-level mappings, transformation rules, and business logic
Experience working with enterprise data standards and governance frameworks

Roles & Responsibilities

Data Mapping & Documentation

Lead detailed source-to-target data mapping across systems and platforms
Document field-level mappings, transformation logic, data lineage, and business rules
Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, data governance, and standards
Maintain version-controlled mapping specifications for engineering teams
Profile datasets to identify structures, relationships, quality issues, and anomalies

Data Quality & Validation

Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and migration risks
Support testing teams with validation rules and expected outputs
Perform data reconciliation between source and target systems
Partner with governance teams to improve metadata accuracy and data integrity

Stakeholder Collaboration

Work closely with data engineers, architects, BAs, product owners, and SMEs
Translate business definitions into technical documentation
Facilitate workshops to resolve data ambiguities and confirm mapping decisions

Reporting & Insights

Build dashboards, reports, and analytics to support business needs
Contribute to self-service analytics and standardized reporting frameworks
Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
