About us:
The Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) group, part of the Information Technology Services (ITS) division, is responsible for the campus core network, campus wireless, wide area network connectivity and internet connectivity for the University, including research and education networks.
EIS is also responsible for services related to cloud architecture and implementation, AI platforms, Windows and Linux server management services, database and application integration and support, departmental network management, server and storage infrastructure, enterprise backup service, 24/7 operation of central administrative data centres and telecommunications services.
Your Opportunity
You will be part of a highly skilled and collaborative technical team responsible for designing, building, and operating secure, scalable, and cost-efficient multi-cloud platforms for the University. This role is strongly hands-on, with primary focus on cloud infrastructure engineering, automation, operational reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
Working in close partnership with the lead enterprise cloud architect and security, data, and application teams,you will contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of cloud platforms and shared services. The role supports University partners through platform integration, infrastructure enablement, and ongoing optimization of cloud environments.
The position requires strong practical expertise in Infrastructure as Code, automation, observability, and security controls. You will be expected to produce production-quality code, develop and maintain reusable cloud components, and continuously enhance platform reliability, security posture, scalability, and cost efficiency through standardization and automation.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Defining requirements and scope of complex projectswith broad impact and long-term consequences
Developing and updating architectural framework for highly complex and confidential university-wide applications
Designing, testing, and modifying programming code
Developing and overseeing new system elements
Developing technical application implementation plans
Serving as an expert resource to a group of professionals in the speciality
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Eight years or more of hands-on experience developing, implementing, and operating enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure across major public cloud platforms.
Design and implementation of cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code in production environments. Development of automation for provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of cloudresources.
Extensive hands-on knowledge of Cloud Adoption Frameworks, landing zone design patterns, cloud-native architecture principles, cloud operations, security models, networking, and layered security.
Implementation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for infrastructure and platform components.
Application of cloud cost monitoring and optimization practices, including FinOps principles, automated cost controls, and chargeback or showback models.
Implementation and operation of monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for cloud infrastructure and platform services.
Support of cloud infrastructure for data platforms and analytics workloads such as Microsoft Fabric.
Integrate and support cloud AI/ML platforms within cloud landing zone environments, including model training, deployment, inference, and MLOps, leveraging solutions such as Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, and GCP Vertex AI.
Operation and support of cloud environments supporting containerized workloads and Kubernetes platforms in production environments.
Integration of on-premises systems with cloud infrastructure in hybrid environments.
Strong multi-cloud architecture and engineering experience across major cloud platforms, with expertise in designing and operating enterprise cloud environments.
Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or similar tools, and cloud-native provisioning tools such as Azure ARM/Bicep, AWS CloudFormation.
Programming and scripting in Python, PowerShell, and Bash for automation and orchestration.
CI/CD tooling for infrastructure delivery (GitHub, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent). Demonstrable code portfolio showcasing real-world cloud, automation, or platform engineering work is required.
Monitoring, logging, and observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, or ELK.
Cloud security architecture, including identity, governance, networking, and compliance controls.
