Job Specifications
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Product Owner to join a forward-thinking organisation that is embedding a "data as a product" mindset across the customers business. The role plays a critical part in maximising the value of data assets by treating data products as commercial products with clear consumers, measurable outcomes, and defined service levels.
You will act as the key bridge between business stakeholders and delivery teams, owning the vision, roadmap, and performance of one or more data products throughout their lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Define and own a clear product vision and roadmap for assigned data products, aligned to business strategy and outcomes.
Act as the owner for the success of data products, ensuring they deliver measurable business value.
Serve as the point of contact for stakeholders, data consumers, and delivery teams.
Translate business needs into clear, prioritised product requirements and outcomes.
Own and prioritise the product backlog, ensuring delivery teams focus on the highest-value work.
Define user stories and acceptance criteria with a strong focus on usability and consumer value.
Define, own, and maintain Data Product Delivery Agreements, including SLAs for quality, availability, timeliness, and reliability.
Agree and monitor non-functional requirements such as refresh frequency, data retention, and recovery expectations.
Define success metrics and track product performance, usage, and business impact.
Monitor data quality and initiate corrective action where standards are not met.
Work closely with engineers, analytics engineers, platform teams, and UX to deliver high-quality data products.
Champion a "data as a product" mindset across both business and technical teams.
Skills & Experience:
Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role within a data, analytics, or platform environment.
Strong understanding of data and analytics concepts, including data products and data quality.
Experience owning and prioritising backlogs and working with cross-functional delivery teams.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Strong ability to define, measure, and communicate business value.
Additional Information:
Rate offered: £500-550 per day
IR35 Status: Outside
Location: Hybrid with travel to client site in the North East
Start date: ASAP
Duration: 6 months initial sign up (significant opportunity for extension)
Required: Active SC Clearance
