User Research & Data Analyst

Duration: 6-month contract
Pay: $37-42/hr
We are looking for a mid-level User Research and Data Analyst to contribute to a high-impact enterprise application initiative. In this role, you will conduct in-depth research on an existing internal tool, collaborate closely with business partners, UX designers, and software engineers, and play an active role in shaping and validating UI and workflow improvements through research and usability testing.
Key Responsibilities
Research Planning & Execution
Design and execute focused research plans aligned with project goals and enterprise application workflows.
Conduct mixed-method research, including stakeholder interviews, workflow and task analysis, contextual inquiries, surveys, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing.
Assess existing tool functionality, usage patterns, and constraints to identify opportunities for UI and workflow enhancements.
Data Analysis & Insight Generation
Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to uncover patterns, trends, and actionable insights.
Synthesize findings into clear, evidence-based recommendations that inform product and design decisions.
Translate complex data into compelling narratives that support decision-making.
Synthesis & Deliverables
Convert research outputs into structured artifacts such as personas, journey and workflow maps, problem statements, opportunity frameworks, insight summaries, and usability reports.
Communicate findings to business stakeholders, designers, and engineering teams, clearly articulating implications for product direction and user experience improvements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand enterprise processes and ensure research reflects operational and strategic realities.
Collaborate with UX designers to translate insights into design concepts and UI solutions.
Work with software development teams to ensure research findings and design intent are carried through implementation.
Champion evidence-based, user-centered decision-making across the project team.
Validation & Continuous Improvement
Plan and conduct usability testing to validate concepts, prototypes, and incremental enhancements.
Continuously refine research methods and processes to improve efficiency, rigor, and team alignment.
Stay current with evolving best practices in enterprise UX research, data analysis, and design collaboration.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, Data Science, Human Factors, or a related discipline.
3+ years of experience in user research and/or data analysis, preferably within enterprise or internal-tool environments.
Working proficiency in Figma for research handoff, collaborative prototyping, and design feedback.
Experience using Jira or similar tools for requirements management, issue tracking, and collaboration with engineering teams.
Familiarity with AI-powered tools and a willingness to explore new methods that enhance research efficiency and insight generation.
Strong grounding in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven experience producing personas, journey and workflow maps, insight summaries, and usability reports.
Comfort working independently, navigating ambiguity, and operating effectively in a fast-paced environment.
