Solution Architect – London (Hybrid, 3 Days Onsite) – Inside IR35

We are currently seeking an experienced Solution Architect for a 12 months contract role (inside IR35) based in London, working 3 days per week in the office. This is an exciting opportunity to join a major transformation programme within the energy sector.

Role Overview

As a Solution Architect, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality architectural input across complex projects. You will act as a trusted technical advisor, ensuring solutions are well‑designed, secure, aligned with enterprise standards, and meet long‑term business needs.

This position is primarily an individual contributor role, with occasional oversight of small teams or workstreams.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

3–5 years of experience in the energy sector (essential).
Full‑stack technical understanding and enterprise‑level architectural expertise.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across multiple teams.
Excellent proactive communication skills (written & verbal), with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
Solid understanding of business processes, sector trends, and the ability to link technology decisions to business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Provide end‑to‑end solution architecture development, consultancy, and assurance for projects.
Ensure all solutions adhere to internal architecture standards, reference architectures, and best practices.
Translate architecture guidelines into practical, scalable designs and resolve common technical challenges.
Deliver technical recommendations with measurable business impact, and proactively identify opportunities to optimise systems and technologies.
Contribute to the development and mentoring of other technical professionals; may represent the organisation externally as a subject‑matter expert.
Apply technology standards (TOE), and raise step-outs where necessary.
Use architecture tools such as IBM System Architect, PowerDesigner, and ProVision to create and maintain architecture artefacts.
Manage relationships with senior business stakeholders, influencing at leadership level.
Apply strategic roadmaps and reference architectures across Cloud, Integration, Open Source, Mobile, Big Data, and more.
