About DeepReach

DeepReach is a fast-moving robotics startup focused on real-world robot deployment and task-specific model training. We work at the intersection of teleoperation, deployment data, and embodied AI, helping robots move from lab demos to reliable, production-ready systems in customer environments.

About the Role

We are seeking a Robotics Engineer Intern to join our onsite team in the Bay Area. You will work directly with the research and deployment lead to build, test, and iterate on real-world robotics deployment scenarios, support teleoperation and data collection pipelines, and contribute to training and evaluating task-specific VLA models.

This role is ideal for candidates who want hands-on exposure to physical robots, real deployment challenges, and fast iteration cycles beyond simulation-only research.

What You’ll Work On

Build and test robot deployment scenarios in real or customer-like environments
Support teleoperation (TeleOps) systems for robot operation and data collection
Assist with robotics data collection, annotation, and quality validation
Work with the research team on VLA, imitation learning, and policy training workflows
Integrate and operate robot arms, grippers, mobile bases, and sensor stacks
Debug deployment issues involving perception, calibration, latency, and control
Help run experiments and internal demos for deployment readiness

Requirements

Background in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields
Prior research or industry experience in robotics, embodied AI, or automation
Hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas:
Robot manipulation or mobile robots
Teleoperation systems
Robotics data collection or dataset generation
Imitation learning, reinforcement learning, or VLA models
Proficiency with Python and/or C++
Familiarity with ROS / ROS2
Comfortable working onsite with physical robots
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment

Nice to Have

Experience with real-world robot deployment (not simulation only)
Familiarity with RGB-D sensors, point clouds, or SLAM
Experience using simulation tools (e.g., Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, PyBullet)
Publications, open-source contributions, or robotics project portfolios
Interest in bridging research and production systems

What You’ll Gain

Hands-on experience deploying robots in real-world environments
Exposure to teleoperation, deployment data, and task-specific model training
Direct mentorship from research and deployment leads
Opportunity to work at a high-ownership, fast-iteration startup
Potential path to a full-time role after the internship
