Job Description
Morton is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our client’s growing Cloud, DevOps, and Security organization. This role will support the design, implementation, and ongoing management of secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across primarily AWS, with meaningful exposure to GCP.
This position sits at a Level 2 cloud engineering capacity and is ideal for an engineer who is highly hands-on with Terraform on a daily basis, comfortable operating in a ticketing and project-based environment, and eager to help build cloud governance and guardrails at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure primarily in AWS, with supporting workloads in GCP
Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform (used daily)
Build and maintain governance, guardrails, and standardized “golden path” templates
Support cloud-based deployments, networking, and security configurations
Operate in a Jira-based ticketing environment, handling Tier 2 cloud support
Monitor environments and respond to incidents, outages, and performance issues
Partner with DevOps, application, and security teams on cloud initiatives
Enforce cloud security standards, IAM policies, and compliance requirements
Document architectures, standards, and operational procedures
Contribute to both project delivery and operational support
Required Qualifications:
3–5 years of experience in a Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or Infrastructure role
Strong hands-on Terraform experience (this will be assessed during interviews)
Solid experience with AWS (majority of workloads)
Working experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Experience supporting cloud infrastructure in production environments
Familiarity with Linux systems and scripting (Bash, Python, etc.)
Knowledge of networking fundamentals (VPCs, DNS, firewalls, VPNs)
Understanding of cloud security best practices and IAM
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Preferred / Nice-to-Have:
Experience in multi-cloud environments (AWS + GCP)
Exposure to Kubernetes (EKS/GKE)
CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins
Experience building cloud governance models or platform standards
Cloud certifications (AWS or GCP – Associate or Professional)
Experience supporting 24/7 or mission-critical systems
