We’re partnering with a leading financial services firm in the FinTech wealth space that’s investing heavily in modernising its technology stack. With a new tech leader driving innovation, the focus is on building in-house Java systems that are scalable, reliable, and future-ready.

About the Java Engineering Role

This is first and foremost a Java engineer position with a focus on the backend. The Java engineer will be building a platform that spans regulated financial services, public and private market investments, and innovative lending products. The successful candidate will pair with a front-end leaning full stack engineer, together owning and driving a vertical domain of our product — shaping it end-to-end from APIs to user interfaces.

The work spans complex financial products, so you’ll have the chance to engage with both technical and business stakeholders across the UK.

Details of the Java Engineer role

Paying up to £650 per day (Outside IR35)

1–2 days per week on-site in London area

Key Responsibilities

Build, maintain, and optimise Java microservices (AWS ECS).
Pair with another engineer to own a vertical slice of our product (e.g. onboarding, payments, or portfolio management).
Contribute to our TypeScript front-ends (React Native mobile app, React back office)
Design and evolve APIs (GraphQL + REST) for user experience.
Work closely with Product, Design, and Compliance to deliver secure, high-quality features in a regulated fintech context.
