Freelance Project: Functional / Business Analyst – Banking Domain

Start Date: January 2026

Duration: 6 months (possible extension)

Work Regime: Full-time, hybrid (1–2 days onsite per week)

Languages: Dutch or French + fluent English

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Functional / Business Analyst to join a project in the banking domain, focusing on online and mobile banking functionalities, payments, cards, digital signatures, onboarding processes, and regulatory compliance.

You will work closely with product owners, architects, developers, and testers within agile squads to translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional specifications. From these analyses, you will create user stories and test scenarios to support development and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze business requirements and create detailed functional documentation
Collaborate with architects and development teams to design solutions
Define service specifications and data models with data architects
Write user stories in Jira and maintain documentation in Confluence
Support scrum teams during development and testing phases
Maintain application documentation and ensure consistency across systems

Required Knowledge & Skills

Strong understanding of daily banking processes (online/mobile), payments, cards tokenization, and KYC/onboarding
Experience with UML/BPMN, relational databases, and SQL
Familiarity with Java environments, SOA, REST, and API concepts
Hands-on experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, and Enterprise Architect
Ability to break down workload from UX/UI designs (e.g., Figma)
Strong knowledge of front end technologies/environment

Nice-to-have:

Experience implementing daily banking features
Knowledge of interactive applications, middleware, and monitoring principles
Cloud computing experience and familiarity with mobile deployment processes

Profile

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, or Computer Science
Minimum 5 years of experience as a functional/business analyst
Strong analytical and technical capabilities
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multicultural environments
Team player with attention to detail and accuracy
