Senior Operations Support Engineer (L2)

Location: Strasbourg

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Operations Support Engineer (L2) to lead complex production support activities and ensure service continuity across mission-critical systems. The role focuses on rapid incident and problem resolution, operational excellence, and continuous service improvement in line with service levels and reporting expectations defined by the Contracting Authority.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage high-severity (P1/P2) production incidents, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication
Drive root-cause analysis (RCA) and coordinate post-incident corrective and preventive actions
Ensure adherence to incident and problem management SLAs/SLTs
Define and continuously improve monitoring and alerting strategies
Establish and maintain performance baselines and operational metrics
Design and implement preventive maintenance and operational improvement initiatives
Produce operational reports and ensure compliance with contractual and governance requirements
Collaborate closely with development, infrastructure, and architecture teams to improve system reliability and resilience
Mentor and support L1/L2 engineers and contribute to operational best practices

Required Skills & Experience

7+ years of experience in IT operations or production support
At least 3 years in a senior or lead operations role
Strong, hands-on knowledge of ITIL processes, particularly Incident, Problem, and Change Management
Solid experience with observability and monitoring tools
Experience with automation and scripting to improve operational efficiency
Strong understanding of containerized and cloud-native environments

Technical Expertise

Monitoring and observability platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Dynatrace)
Container technologies and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Automation and scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)

Nice to Have

Experience in regulated, enterprise, or public-sector environments
ITIL certification (Foundation or higher)
Experience working with contractual SLAs and formal reporting structures
