AI Engineer (LangGraph, Python) – Freelance – Remote

We are looking for an experienced AI Engineer (Freelance) with strong expertise in LangGraph, Python, and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation). You will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling stateful, production-grade AI agents for insurance use cases.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and deploy AI agents using LangGraph (stateful workflows, branching logic, human-in-the-loop).
Architect and optimize RAG pipelines for complex insurance documents (policies, endorsements, contracts).
Integrate AI agents into client systems (APIs, databases, CRMs, internal tools).
Manage and optimize vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS).
Improve agent reasoning using advanced prompt engineering, memory design, and tool orchestration.
Ensure robustness, observability, and scalability of LLM-based systems in production.
Collaborate closely with product and business teams to translate insurance workflows into AI-driven processes.
Technical Skills Required
AI Agent Development & LangGraph
Strong hands-on experience with LangGraph for building multi-step, stateful AI agents.
Solid understanding of agent orchestration, state management, and conditional flows.
Experience working with LLMs (OpenAI, Mistral, Llama) and their APIs.
Familiarity with prompt engineering, short-term / long-term memory patterns, and tool calling.
Backend & API Development
Strong proficiency in Python.
Experience with FastAPI (or Flask / Django).
Knowledge of RESTful APIs, authentication (OAuth, JWT).
Understanding of async processing, background jobs, and queues (Celery, Redis is a plus).
RAG & Vector Databases
Hands-on experience with vector stores (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS).
Strong knowledge of embeddings, chunking strategies, metadata design.
Ability to design scalable indexing and retrieval pipelines for large document sets.
Data & System Optimization
Experience with SQL / NoSQL databases for structured and unstructured data.
Ability to debug, evaluate, and improve agent accuracy and hallucination control.
Strong attention to production constraints (latency, cost, reliability).
Requirements
Proven experience building LLM-based agents in production environments.
Strong understanding of RAG systems and vector search.
Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced startup environment.
Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Bonus: Experience in insurance, fintech, or other regulated industries.
