HR Generalist

Optomi, in partnership with a leading manufacturing company, is seeking a HR Generalist who will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end background screening and drug testing processes to support timely, compliant hiring and ongoing workforce requirements. This role partners closely with HR and Talent Acquisition teams to ensure accurate adjudication, policy alignment, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Own and manage the background screening vendor platform (e.g., First Advantage/Sterling).
Review and oversee criminal, education, employment, license, clinical, and other role-specific verifications.
Monitor screening workflows to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective processing for candidates and employees.
Review, adjudicate, or support adjudication of background screening results in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
Manage escalations related to adverse findings, candidate disputes, and time-sensitive hiring decisions.
Serve as a subject matter resource for HR and Talent Acquisition on background screening policies, processes, and best practices.
Manage new location setup for background screening and testing programs.
Order, track, and process drug and alcohol testing supplies as requested.
Coordinate and administer the Quarterly Random Drug Testing Program, including:
Partnering with the vendor support team to distribute testing lists
Tracking progress and completion throughout the quarter
Process and reconcile invoices related to screening and testing services.
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to screening and compliance activities.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources (field environment preferred, or a combination of field and corporate HR experience).
Prior experience overseeing background screening processes; experience with First Advantage/Sterling strongly preferred.
Knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations, including FCRA and EEOC guidelines.
Ability to apply consistent, impartial criteria when reviewing sensitive information.
Strong attention to detail with demonstrated analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
High level of discretion with confidential and sensitive information.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Availability and commitment to fulfill a 4-month assignment.
