$110,000 USD ($120,000 CAD) annually

Role Overview

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the architecture, design, administration, documentation, and optimization of network and systems infrastructure across the enterprise. Operating in a 24/7 environment with a goal of 99.999% uptime, this role supports both current and emerging technologies and ensures the health and performance of infrastructure assets.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Solutions & Infrastructure
Evaluate, test, and implement complex technical solutions focused on business value
Support enterprise systems including compute, storage, virtualization, cloud, and backup
Manage lifecycle, upgrades, capacity, and incident/change/problem resolution
Act as liaison to Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Production Support teams
Systems Operations
Ensure availability and performance of systems infrastructure
Align technology solutions with strategic business plans
Develop and monitor system management procedures and policies
Coordinate upgrades and capacity planning with vendors and internal teams
Conduct security assessments in collaboration with the Security team
Documentation & Communication
Create engineering drawings, procedures, and technical documentation
Communicate project-related support efforts across the organization
Operate independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
2+ years in Windows/Linux/Cloud environments
Strong commitment to uptime and operational integrity
Hands-on experience with:

Windows Server, Linux Server, Active Directory, Exchange, IIS, DHCP, DNS
Scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Perl, Python)
VMware virtualization
SAN/NAS storage protocols
Networking (LAN, Routing, Switching, VPN, VLANs, Layer 2/3)
Disaster Recovery planning
Security tools (encryption, certificates, patch management)
Monitoring and forensic tools
Data center operations
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and in teams
Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with:

Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform)
Office365 and Exchange Online
Mail security (e.g., Mimecast)
Backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Rubrik)
Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)

Relevant certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP, VCDX, Microsoft/Azure)
