Job Tittle: Senior Manager – Frontend Engineering (Full-stack exposure)

Location: North York Hybrid – 3 days/week (Office)
Key Responsibilities
People & Culture Leadership
• Lead and mentor frontend engineers across multiple squads, ensuring consistent engineering standards and best practices.
• Build and nurture strong frontend talent pipelines, identifying high-potential individuals and supporting their career growth.
• Foster a culture of frontend excellence, accessibility, performance optimization, and design collaboration.
• Act as a bridge between Design, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure seamless execution of UI/UX vision.
• Provide steady leadership during ambiguity, scaling initiatives, and organizational change.
Frontend Strategy & Architecture (Primary Focus – 70%)
• Define and own the frontend architecture roadmap, including micro-frontend strategy, shared component libraries, and design systems.
• Drive architectural decisions for Angular / React-based applications with a focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Ensure frontend applications meet high standards of accessibility, responsiveness, and cross-platform compatibility.
• Partner with backend and cloud teams to define clean APIs and integration patterns.
• Lead decisions around frontend tooling, frameworks, performance monitoring, and CI/CD practices.
Delivery & Operational Excellence
• Act as a core technical voice in the Product–Design–Engineering trio, advocating for frontend feasibility and user experience quality.
• Oversee frontend delivery from concept and prototyping through production release and continuous improvement.
• Ensure high availability and performance of customer-facing applications under heavy traffic and market volatility.
• Promote best practices in code quality, testing, observability, and release management.
• Communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Education & Experience
• 8+ years of experience in frontend or web engineering, with 3+ years in a people-management or technical leadership role.
• Strong background in building and scaling large-scale frontend applications.
• Degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in financial services or enterprise-scale platforms is a strong plus.
Technical Proficiency
Frontend (Core Focus)
• Deep expertise in Angular and/or react with strong understanding of micro-frontend architecture.
• Experience building and maintaining design systems, component libraries, and shared UI platforms.
• Strong knowledge of frontend performance optimization, state management, and modern build tools.
• Familiarity with frontend testing strategies (unit, integration, E2E).
Backend & Cloud (Supporting Skills)
• Working knowledge of cloud-native architectures and microservices (GCP preferred).
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, event-driven systems, and backend integration patterns.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and collaboration tools such as GitLab, Jira, and Confluence.
