Business Unit

The Quantitative Engineering & Development (QED) team provides a full suite of quantitative development and risk management services to global fixed income Sales and Trading desks, playing a pivotal role in providing quantitative solutions and development.

The Team Has Two Core Mandates

Deliver top-tier quantitative and pricing/risk analysis tools for trading desks across the region
Responsible for live development request coverage, providing fast and accurate pricing and hedging solutions

This is a fast-paced and dynamic team who have grown rapidly in line with the Bank's overall growth strategy. The team has an increasing global mandate, focusing on improving efficiencies and providing better quantitative tools to Global Fixed Income desks. This is an exceptional opportunity to work on a globally recognized team.

Due to continuing business growth, we are looking for a professional with solid STEM background and sound business common sense to join the QED team in Toronto as a Vice President (VP).

This individual will be responsible for a range of tasks including:

Develop and maintain valuation and pricing engines for financial derivatives in C++ model library, updating the codebase based on evolving business needs.
Improve and update analytical tools for front office trading and sales desks, which involve Python/VBA and UI design.
Design and implement front-office solutions and strategies to optimize trading efficiencies and decision-making.
Collaborate with other teams in TDS including front office trading and sales desks, technology, risk management, treasury, finance, and compliance to deploy new or enhanced models to production.
Oversee trade allocation, pro-actively liaising with middle and back office to resolve issues and ensure a seamless end to end experience.
Perform thorough literature review and utilize Bloomberg to ensure the models are aligned with latest market practices.
Execute comprehensive tests to ensure model robustness and reliability.
Support daily business requirements through active collaboration with team members to address front office needs.
Document implementation details in library codebase and in Model Development Report.
Maintain strong knowledge of current markets, trends, and innovations.
Idea generation - assist in other areas that suit the candidate's skill set and interests.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate skills in several distinct areas including

3+ years of front office experience or 5+years in other quant related working experience.
Strong academic background in a relevant field - Mathematics, engineering, computer science background, including a quantitative understanding of statistics and probability.
Superior programming skills in a modern programming language (C++, Python, Java or equivalent language) and familiarity with object-oriented design principles. VBA experience is desirable.
Strong background of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet-based analysis.
Comfortable working on multiple projects, demonstrating initiative and delivering results quickly.
Ability to solve technical problems and explain the underlying ideas to a non-technical audience.
