Eden Scott is delighted to be working with a leading Financial Services Organisation in Edinburgh to recruit a Data-Focused Business Analyst.
The ideal person will have experienced in Financial Services and passionate about using data to improve customer outcomes, streamline processes, and strengthen operational resilience?
This role plays a pivotal part in supporting the business data‑driven strategy. You will work across business areas to understand regulatory, operational, and customer-focused requirements—translating them into high‑quality data and process solutions.
Whether supporting change initiatives, improving risk and control environments, or enhancing data quality, you will be central to enabling smarter, more efficient decision‑making across the business
Key Responsibilities
Engage with banking stakeholders across Operations, Risk, Compliance, Technology, and Customer functions to capture and prioritise data and business requirements
Analyse data to identify trends, operational bottlenecks, and opportunities for efficiency or risk reduction
Translate business needs into clear functional specifications and user stories
Assess existing “as-is” banking processes and support the design of improved “to‑be” journeys
Support key regulatory and governance initiatives relating to data quality, lineage, and privacy (e.g., GDPR, operational risk)
Develop dashboards and MI to support informed decision-making
Facilitate workshops, requirements sessions, and playback meetings
Maintain clear documentation—process maps, data flows, controls, business glossaries
Assist with UAT, ensuring solutions meet banking, operational, and compliance expectations
Contribute to business cases, project planning, RAID management, and reporting
Promote data literacy and a culture of continuous improvement across the bank
Person Specification
Experience as a Business Analyst within banking or wider financial services
Strong understanding of banking processes, customer journeys, and operational frameworks
Proven experience delivering data-driven change or analytics initiatives
Ability to interpret and query data (e.g., SQL)
Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and regulatory expectations
Understanding of risk, controls, and compliance within a banking environment
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Experience working in Agile and/or Waterfall delivery
Inquisitive and analytical
Excellent attention to detail, particularly around data accuracy and controls
Collaborative, confident, and comfortable working with senior stakeholders
Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities
Proactive approach to problems and continuous improvement
