Job Specifications
We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Database Administrator to provide subject matter expertise in the selection, design, development, integration, and administration of mainframe databases. The role primarily focuses on IMS, DB2, and CICS environments, ensuring database stability, performance optimization, and system integrity.
The ideal candidate will possess strong mainframe database administration experience, solid understanding of application development processes, and the ability to support performance, functional, and capacity-related challenges in enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
Provide subject matter expertise in IMS, DB2, and CICS environments
Perform database administration, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting
Support database design, integration, and migration activities
Provide technical guidance for database and mainframe software upgrades
Collaborate with development teams with a working knowledge of COBOL applications
Investigate and resolve functional, performance, and capacity-related issues
Support change, release, and incident management processes
Ensure database security, backup, recovery, and compliance standards are maintained
Mandatory Requirements
3+ years of experience in one or more of: IMS, DB2, or CICS
(Combination of Oracle and DB2 experience totaling 3+ years is acceptable)
3+ years of experience working in a z/OS TSO/ISPF environment
3+ years of experience with mainframe tools, including:
MACRO4
DB2 and IMS administration tools
IBM Application Performance Analyzer (APA) or equivalent
3+ years of experience in code/change management processes using:
ServiceNow
Endevor
Nice to Have
Experience with Easytrieve, SAS, DB2 Connect, TOAD
Knowledge of CA-7 scheduler functionality (job scheduling awareness)
Banking domain experience (DBA background preferred)
Knowledge of Mainframe Assembler
