Main duties of the job

As a Staff Nurse in the Discharge Lounge, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients leave the hospital safely, confidently, and with everything they need for the next stage of their care. You will assess patient readiness for discharge, review documentation and medications, and coordinate closely with the multidisciplinary team to remove delays and support smooth patient flow. While patients wait, you will provide high‑quality nursing care, assurance, and clear explanations about their ongoing treatment and follow‑up plans. You will maintain accurate records, communicate effectively with wards and community services, and contribute to service improvements that enhance the overall discharge experience. Working within a supportive, patient‑focused environment, you will help create a calm, efficient space that promotes dignity, comfort, and continuity of care.
