Senior Machine Learning Engineer

London – Hybrid (twice-monthly London visit)

£120k–£150k + Equity

A VC-backed AI startup is building advanced statistical models and analytical frameworks to solve complex problems and make informed decisions in the sporting arena.

We’re building the ML stack from first principles and need someone who can take models from prototype to production — and scale them.

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants real technical ownership in a fast-moving environment, working closely with the founders to shape both the system and the roadmap.

What you’ll do

Take a foundation model from research prototype into production
Build and scale distributed training and inference pipelines
Optimise models across different hardware environments
Architect and profile the ML stack end-to-end
Create internal evaluation, benchmarking, and tooling
Work directly with founders on technical direction

What we’re looking for

Experience building or scaling large ML / foundation models
Strong performance optimisation and debugging skills
Hands-on experience running ML systems in production
Deep learning expertise (PyTorch preferred)
Comfortable in early-stage, high-ownership environments

Tech stack

Python • CUDA • PyTorch • Distributed training • Azure P

Modern foundation architectures (MoE, state-space models)
