Position Summary
The Educational Coordinator, TAAAC supports the operational delivery of the Toronto Addis Ababa Academic Collaboration, a long-standing academic partnership between the University of Toronto and Addis Ababa University (AAU).
The Coordinator provides administrative and programmatic support across TAAAC’s three core pillars: faculty travel to Ethiopia, clinical fellowships in Toronto, and international observerships. Working closely with the Director, faculty leads, and institutional partners, the Coordinator ensures smooth coordination of learner onboarding, travel logistics, documentation, reporting, and communication between Toronto and Addis Ababa.
This role is central to maintaining organized, compliant, and high-quality program operations that support global health education and capacity-building initiatives.
Duties
Coordinate logistics for faculty travel to Ethiopia, including scheduling, documentation, travel planning, and pre-departure requirements.
Support onboarding and coordination of international clinical fellows and observership participants, including documentation, institutional processes, and orientation materials.
Liaise with internal departments (PGME, HR, credentialing, finance) and external partners at Addis Ababa University to ensure timely processing of required paperwork and approvals.
Maintain accurate databases and tracking systems for learners, faculty travelers, fellowship timelines, funding allocations, and reporting requirements.
Assist with financial tracking, expense reconciliation, and preparation of program-related documentation.
Support preparation of reports and materials for funders (e.g., Mastercard Foundation), academic partners, and internal stakeholders.
Coordinate meetings, agendas, minutes, and communications between Toronto and Addis Ababa partners.
Assist with program evaluation activities, data collection, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Health Sciences, Global Health, Health Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
4+ years of experience in academic program coordination, healthcare administration, or global health program support and/or on-the-job training required
Project Management experience required
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple complex processes with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience working in an academic medical or hospital environment preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with international partners.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with databases and financial tracking tools is an asset.
Ability to work independently while collaborating within a small, dynamic team.
Interest in global health, international education partnerships, and capacity-building initiatives is strongly preferred.
