G2 have partnered with a global Automotive business and their main focus is the design and production of vehicles for public passenger transport that focuses on electrical and alternative energy use to reduce emissions in cities.

Freelance Application Engineer – EV / Automotive

We’re supporting a global automotive manufacturer specialising in electric and alternative‑energy public transport vehicles (buses, coaches, school transport) to hire a Freelance Sign‑Off & Operations Engineer for a 12‑month contract in France.

You’ll join the Battery Application Team, helping ensure battery systems meet quality, safety and production standards across design, logistics and vehicle assembly. The role is hybrid, with travel to the manufacturing site located in Venisseux or Annonay when required.

Key responsibilities:

Manage and update battery checklists and technical documentation
Support commissioning activities and logistics processes
Perform quality gate reviews and sign‑off activities
Support production during assembly launches and ramp‑ups
Work closely with engineering to gather requirements and resolve issues
Support supplier quality topics and customer‑related issues

Key requirements:

Strong automotive experience, ideally within electric vehicles (cars, trucks or buses)
Hands‑on experience with battery systems from design through to final assembly
Confident working cross‑functionally with quality, production, assembly and engineering teams
Fluent English (French is a plus)
EU passport / right to work in the EU as a freelancer
Comfortable with a hybrid setup including on‑site work in Venisseux or Annonay

Contract: 12 months

Rate: TBC (€ / hour)
