Pay Rate: $55–$60/hr W2

Position Description

We are seeking a Senior Firewall Security Engineer with deep expertise in Palo Alto and Check Point firewalls, Splunk, and Azure cloud security to support enterprise cybersecurity operations. This role will focus on firewall policy management, security rule remediation, incident response, and security monitoring within a cloud-enabled infrastructure.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of cybersecurity or network security engineering experience and has a strong ability to work independently while supporting the daily operations of firewall security policies across a complex enterprise environment.

This is a fully remote opportunity supporting a high-impact cybersecurity engineering team responsible for maintaining secure network architecture and protecting critical enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

Manage, configure, and optimize Palo Alto and Check Point firewall environments within an enterprise infrastructure.

Review, analyze, and remediate overly permissive firewall rules to strengthen network security posture.

Monitor and analyze security logs and events using Splunk to detect anomalies, threats, and operational issues.

Support incident response investigations, including firewall-related security events and troubleshooting.

Maintain and manage firewall security policies in Azure cloud environments.

Collaborate with security, network, and infrastructure teams to improve network segmentation and access control.

Ensure firewall configurations align with enterprise security standards and compliance requirements.

Provide ongoing support for daily firewall operations, policy updates, and security troubleshooting.

Required Skills / Education

10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, or firewall engineering.

Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Check Point Firewalls.

Proven experience remediating overly permissive firewall rules and improving network security policies.

5+ years of experience with Splunk, including log analysis, monitoring, and threat investigation.

Experience managing firewalls in Azure cloud environments.

Experience supporting security incident response and troubleshooting.

Ability to work independently in a remote environment while supporting operational security tasks.

Strong understanding of network security architecture, firewall policies, and access controls.
