Position Summary
The Manager of Compliance – iGaming is a leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the compliance strategy across all aspects of the iGaming business. This includes regulatory compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), fraud prevention, responsible gaming (RG), payments compliance, and expansion into new regulated markets.
The successful candidate will ensure the organization operates in full compliance with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and iGaming Ontario (iGO) requirements, while providing strategic guidance and compliance leadership to the iGaming team. This role will also lead the company’s efforts to expand into new regulated jurisdictions, ensuring readiness, licensing, and sustainable compliance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and lead the overall Compliance, AML, Fraud, Payments, and RG strategy for the iGaming business.
Serve as the principal point of contact for all regulatory matters with AGCO, iGO, and other gaming authorities.
Advise executive leadership on regulatory developments, risks, and opportunities related to current and emerging markets.
Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure business initiatives align with compliance requirements and organizational values.
Lead and mentor a team of compliance professionals, fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure ongoing compliance with AGCO and iGO standards, including registration, reporting, audit, and operational obligations.
Maintain and continuously improve policies and procedures to meet all applicable gaming laws, regulations, and internal standards.
Oversee internal and external audits and implement corrective actions as required.
Manage the licensing and certification process for expansion into new jurisdictions.
AML & Fraud Management
Oversee the implementation of a robust AML and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) framework in line with FINTRAC and jurisdictional regulations.
Monitor and report on suspicious activity, working closely with operational and payments teams.
Drive initiatives to minimize fraud-related losses and protect player accounts and transactions.
Responsible Gaming (RG)
Lead the development and implementation of responsible gaming programs in line with regulatory expectations and best practices.
Ensure all customer interactions and marketing activities uphold RG principles and obligations.
Payments & Data Protection
Ensure payment processing partners and systems comply with regulatory and financial institution requirements.
Oversee data protection compliance in collaboration with IT and Legal teams to ensure adherence to privacy legislation applicable to relative jurisdictions. (PIPEDA, GDPR, etc.).
Expansion & Jurisdictional Growth
Develop and execute compliance strategies for entry into new regulated markets.
Liaise with international regulators to obtain necessary licenses and approvals.
Establish scalable frameworks and governance models to support multi-jurisdictional compliance.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in compliance within the iGaming, gaming, or regulated financial services industry, with at least 5 years in a people leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of AGCO/iGO regulations, AML/CTF obligations, and RG frameworks.
Experience managing relationships with regulatory bodies and government agencies.
Proven success in developing and leading compliance programs and teams.
Strong understanding of payment systems, fraud detection, and risk management processes.
Demonstrated experience expanding operations into new regulated jurisdictions.
