Title: Cloud Infrastructure Architect

Work Type : Must be at least 2 days a week onsite (this is the current policy, and this is subject to change)

Location: 2 Research Drive, Greenville, SC 29607 United States

Travel Required: 5% travel

Client Notes:

This role requires architect/engineer-level Kubernetes experience on AWS EKS, as well as expertise in deploying applications using GitHub.

Advanced knowledge and experience of Kubernetes technology (especially AWS EKS).

- How to perform Blue/Green operations for cluster upgrade (never upgrade in place)

-Building EKS clusters for production use and lower supporting environments

- ECR image housing and retrieval

- CNI configuration

- Network policy creation and enforcement Config and maintain cluster communications

- Private VPC

- Intranet to internal systems

-Internet (Ingress/Egress)

- ALB/NLB configuration

- WAF configuration and maintenance

- Terraform to drive all infrastructure creation, updates, and maintenance

- How to configure and maintain application uptime requirements

- Scaling methodologies

- Fault tolerance methodologies

- How to log, alert and monitor Kubernetes

- Grafana

- Prometheus

- Link cluster logs to AWS Cloudwatch

- Build API to ITSM solution for ticket generation of alerts

- Proven integration of GitHub with Kubernetes (EKS)

- GitHub to EKS using OIDC

- GitHub and secrets management

- Building GitHub Actions

- Deploying to multiple lower environments and PROD safely.

The Cloud Infrastructure Architect scope of work:

-Design, maintain and troubleshoot up Cloud infrastructure based on application architecture (e.g. setting up Containers, Kubernetes cluster, configuration, scalability and security aspects etc)
-Understanding the cloud integration requirements and design the infrastructure needs to support them
-Set-up dev, int and prod cloud environments (terraform based deployments)
-Optimize cloud costs by recommending measures to reduce the cloud consumptions
-Build CI/CD pipeline
-Documentation
-Release management: Review the releases during deployments and identify issues. Communication and collaboration with Cloud Engineers to fix the issues Day to day responsibilities:
-Communicate with the secure authentication teams to understand the application requirements
-Understand the interfaces and integrations requirements
-Set-up the cloud infrastructure
-Collaborate with our client infrastructure teams on firewalls and other network related aspects to integrate the cloud application with the Cloud or On prem interfaces
-Build and run the CI/CD pipeline
-Deploy new versions of the application to Cloud
-Co-develop a plan to migrate an application from on-prem to cloud. Must have requirements: - The candidate should have experience working with cloud infrastructure technologies (VPC, EC2, Networking rules, Firewalls, cloud room sizing, optimization techniques)
-Deployments using CI/CD pipeline
-Terraform based deployments
-Understanding of release management
-Understanding of cloud integrations with other interfaces (cloud or on-prem)
-Migration of an “On Prem” application to Cloud Nice to have skills: Programming language for application development in cloud (or on-prem). Application architecture and design for migration of an on prem application to cloud

Position Purpose/Scope: What are the key objectives of the position?

Develops leading edge cloud architectures and technologies to support our client and local DEVOPS Hubs Americas’ product teams. Identifies emerging technologies with cloud providers (AWS, Azure) in order to build cloud Infrastructure as Code solutions with availability reaching 99.999% uptime. All solutions will be properly secure and reliably engineered. Provides monitoring and logging of applications/infrastructure.

Position Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

List the major duties/accountabilities to achieve the positions key objectives.

Develop and maintain Cloud architectures for our client product teams
Create and develop Kubernetes architecture and tools for product teams and as platforms Evaluate and implement Kubernetes managed solutions from vendors (EKS, AKS) Develop cluster creation/maintenance scripts (Infrastructure as code, Terraform, etc..)
Utilize version control of the Infrastructure as Code with strong understanding of branching and merging strategies (Bitbucket)
Deploy CI/CD pipeline utilization (Jenkins) for the creation of clusters
Enforce user management and role management (AWS, Azure) following Group standards Perform and create cluster monitoring and infrastructure health reporting (Prometheus, Grafana)
Provide operational expertise to maintain Cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure (technical and budgetary) Develop network controls (ingress/egress for internet/intranet access)
Maintain cluster security (key management, Vault)
Develop highly available, scalable clusters (scale out, scale up, multiple AZs)
Support cloud based databases (CockRoach) and message queue
