Job Specifications
The Senior Software Engineer Microservices & DevOps is a hybrid role combining hands-on microservices development and DevOps engineering, with shared ownership of build, deployment, production operations, and security remediation.
This role is expected to operate approximately 50% as a microservices developer and 50% as a DevOps engineer, with flexibility to scale across either area based on evolving project and operational needs. The ideal candidate is a highly adaptable engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, production-critical environment and has demonstrated measurable productivity gains by leveraging AI-assisted development and operations tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, or other enterprise-approved AI tools).
The engineer will design, build, deploy, operate, and support highly scalable and secure microservices while automating CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and operational workflows. The role requires strong collaboration with product managers, architects, platform teams, and engineering leadership.
How You Will Make an Impact
Microservices Development
Design, develop, test, and maintain secure, scalable, and resilient microservices supporting consumer-facing applications.
Write high-quality, production-ready Java code using Spring Boot and RESTful API design principles.
Apply AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and code reviews while maintaining engineering rigor.
Practice Test-Driven Development (TDD) and participate actively in peer code reviews.
Own features end-to-end, from design and development through deployment, monitoring, and production support.
DevOps & Platform Engineering
Build, maintain, and automate CI/CD pipelines for configuration management, build, test, and deployment activities using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and related tools.
Design and operate cloud-native infrastructure on Azure, including AKS/Kubernetes, App Services, API Management, Key Vault, and App Configuration.
Implement containerization and orchestration using Docker/Podman, Helm charts, and GitOps practices (Argo CD).
Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration with tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
Enable zero-downtime deployments, scalability, and high availability across environments.
Production Operations & Security
Provide hands-on support for production and non-production incidents, including root cause analysis and remediation.
Address security vulnerabilities, patching, upgrades, and hotfixes in a timely and compliant manner.
Instrument applications and infrastructure with monitoring, logging, alerting, and tracing (e.g., Datadog).
Perform impact assessments for application, infrastructure, and platform changes.

What We Look For
BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of experience across software development and DevOps / platform engineering roles.
Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices-based architectures.
Solid understanding of Azure cloud services, including AKS, App Services, API Management, Key Vault, and Front Door.
Proven experience automating CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and security.
Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to improve engineering productivity and quality, with openness to continuous learning and experimentation within enterprise guardrails.
Strong troubleshooting skills and experience supporting mission-critical production systems.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional Agile teams.
