Junior Back-end Engineer

Company Description: Fast-growing scale-up

This is a great opportunity to join a fast-moving engineering team as a Junior Backend Engineer. You’ll help build and maintain scalable backend systems that power real-world applications, working closely with product and front-end teams.

It’s a hands-on role designed for someone early in their backend career who’s excited to learn, ship, and grow.

Key responsibilities:

Build and maintain server-side logic using modern backend frameworks (e.g. Node.js, Python, Go)
Work with APIs — designing, integrating, and maintaining RESTful endpoints
Support database design and optimisation (e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
Collaborate with front-end and product teams to deliver full-stack features
Write clean, testable, and maintainable code
Help improve system performance, scalability, and security
Participate in code reviews and learn from senior engineers
Stay curious and keep learning — especially in areas like DevOps, testing, or AI tooling

What we're looking for:

1–2 years of experience (including internships or personal projects) in backend development
Proficiency in at least one backend language (Node.js, Python, Go, etc.)
Basic understanding of how REST APIs work
Familiarity with databases and version control (e.g. Git)
Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
A willingness to learn fast and take feedback
Bonus: any experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), testing frameworks, or containerisation
