About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead, mentor, and grow a high‑performing engineering team within an exciting Fintech Start-up client I am actively supporting. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll guide technical direction, drive engineering excellence, and deliver scalable, high‑quality software products that make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of software engineers through coaching, 1:1s, career development, and performance management.
Drive delivery of complex technical projects from concept to production.
Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Architecture teams to define strategy, roadmap, and technical specifications.
Champion best engineering practices including code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, and automation.
Contribute to technical decision‑making, architectural discussions, and hands‑on engineering where required.
Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation.
Ensure the team delivers secure, reliable, scalable software solutions.
Recruit and onboard engineering talent as the team grows.
About you
Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Lead Engineer, or Senior Engineer ready to step into management
Strong technical background in modern software development (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, cloud-native architecture
Exceptional people leadership and communication skills
Experience leading teams delivering high‑quality, production-grade systems
Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Ability to create clarity, prioritise effectively, and drive outcomes in a fast‑paced environment.
Passion for mentoring engineers and building a healthy engineering culture
Nice to have
Experience in distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
Exposure to DevOps practices and tooling.
Background in Agile/Scrum delivery.
